Belle’s Easy Fruit Pie Turnovers

A fruity, flakey treat you won’t be able to refuse! The food I crave most is pastries. I love donuts, streusels, and anything with a light, flakey crust. My fruit pie turnovers are a favorite at my house. We have them for dessert or breakfast, and they are usually gone within hours of my pulling them out of the oven.  It’s a good thing they are so easy to make. I use refrigerated puff pastry that comes in a roll, so you simply unroll it, and it’s ready. I will also use premade pie filling (either store-bought or home-canned), making this treat something that is literally ready to bake in just minutes. The flakey pastry and sweet fruit filling is topped with a drizzle of almond glaze, making these turnovers a treat you can’t refuse.

Belle’s Easy Fruit Pie Turnovers

1 package puff pastry

1 large can or 2 small cans of fruit pie filling (apple, cherry, blueberry)

1 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon almond extract

Milk

Roll out the puff pastry on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Cut the pastry into six equal squares using a knife or pizza wheel. Place about ¼ cup of pie filling on half of each square and then fold over the other half and seal by pressing down with the tines of a fork.  Bake at 425 degrees for about 20 minutes or until pastries are golden brown.  Let cool completely. In a bowl, mix the powdered sugar and almond extract together. Add a teaspoon of milk and stir. Keep adding a tiny amount of milk until the frosting is thin enough to drizzle over each of the pastries.
