These little tarts wrap up the flavors of fall in every bite! Autumn has a way of making apples taste better—crisp, sweet, and comforting. My apple cream cheese tarts capture all of that in a neat little package. They look impressive, but they’re so simple to make. Start with puff pastry, the golden dough that does all the hard work. Into each muffin cup goes a layer of whipped cream cheese, lightly sweetened with sugar and spiced with cinnamon, and then a generous mound of apple pie filling. And that’s not all, a drizzle of almond glaze makes these tarts unforgettable. With every bite, these little tarts remind us why apples are the very best part of fall.
Belle’s Apple Cream Cheese Tarts
1 sheet puff pastry
2 ¼ cups apple pie filling
1 ½ cups cream cheese (whipped style)
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup powdered sugar
½ teaspoon almond extract
1-2 tablespoons milk
In a bowl, mix the whipped cream cheese, sugar, and cinnamon and set aside. Lay the puff pastry sheet over a 12-cup muffin tin. Use the exact same size muffin tin to press the pastry into the cups (or use a ½ cup measuring cup to press each cup). Using a pizza cutter or knife, slice the pastry into squares around each cup. Place 1-2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture into each cup, then top with 3 tablespoons of pie filling. Bring the sides of each pastry together and twist to close, forming a small pouch. Bake at 425°F for about 20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown. Cool completely. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and almond extract, then add just enough milk to thin the mixture. Drizzle this over each tart.
